Antonio Conte wants aggression and high intensity from Chelsea

New boss Antonio Conte wants to develop Chelsea into a team who play with aggression and intensity, as he prepares for his first season in the Premier League.

The Blues will have no European distractions having finished 10th in the league last season, and Conte will be using the new campaign to mould his side into the style that he has adopted in every team he has managed.

"I like it if my team plays with great aggression and high intensity. I like to see that," Conte said.

"We train to prepare for that because I want my team to have an identity. I want it so that if you see us, you recognise 'Oh, Chelsea are playing'.

"That is important for me, important for the club and the owner. Everywhere I have been I have worked at that. I always gave an identity to my teams.

"I am searching to transfer this to my players now, and I am pleased because I see a great attitude."

Conte's bid to wrestle the league title from Leicester City will be aided by new signings Michy Batshuayi and N'Golo Kante, while the club's star winger Eden Hazard has vowed to rediscover his form, after a disastrous campaign the last time out.

With preseason going well in the International Champions Cup for Conte and his men, the Italian tactician now wants to stop talking up his club's title ambitions, and let their feet do the talking.

"I want to continue in this way because this is the only way to come back very soon for the title, not to speak, but with actions," he added.

"Now is not the moment to talk."

Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign with a home game at Stamford Bridge against West Ham United on Aug. 16.
