Ball boys sent off for time-wasting, leaving referee to do their job

Yeovil Town's ball boys were all sent off in the closing minutes of Saturday's 3-1 non-league win over Bromley, leaving the referee to retrieve the ball himself, as the bemused club took to social media to discuss the bizarre end to the game.

"The referee has, no joke, just sent off one of our ball boys..." Yeovil said on Twitter, a post that was retweeted by more than 2,000 users, before adding: "Update: he's dismissed all of them."

English games reporting hate crimes spikes 47%

The number of football matches in England and Wales where hate crime incidents were reported increased by 47% in the 2018-19 season, a British government study published on Thursday said.

Although football-related arrests dropped by 10% to 1,381 last season, the number of hate crimes reported increased from incidents in 131 matches the previous season to 193 matches in 2018-19.

Manchester United legends' Salford City sack joint managers

Salford City will play Manchester United in a preseason friendly.
Salford City have parted company with managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

The joint-managers of Salford City, part-owned by ex-Manchester United players including Ryan Giggs, have left the club.

A statement from the club said Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley were leaving due to "irreconcilable differences around personal terms" despite taking the club into the National League.

Johnson and Morley have guided Salford to three promotions in four seasons.
