Dag & Red midfielder Joss Labadie banned for six months for biting

The Football Association has banned Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Joss Labadie for six months following a second biting offence by the player.

Labadie was last month charged with violent conduct by the FA after he was accused of sinking his teeth into the hand of Stevenage defender Ronnie Henry during Dagenham's 1-0 win at the Lamex Stadium on March 28.

It is not the first time the 24-year-old has committed this offence -- he was banned for 10 matches last season after biting Chesterfield's Ollie Banks while playing for Torquay.

In this latest incident, Labadie clashed with Henry near the touchline as the pair went to retrieve the ball after play had been stopped.

Henry immediately appeared to signal to the nearby assistant referee that he had been bitten.

Labadie denied any wrongdoing but the FA has acted by imposing a lengthy ban on the former West Brom trainee.

A statement on the Dag & Red official website read: "Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Joss Labadie appeared before a Football Association disciplinary hearing this afternoon.

"Joss pleaded not guilty to the charge of violent conduct. Unfortunately the case was found against him and the subsequent punishment issued by the FA is that he is banned from playing football games for six months commencing today.

"Both the player and the club are awaiting the written report from the FA hearing before deciding their next step."

Labadie, who has also played for Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Tranmere and Notts County during his career, has played twice since the incident at Stevenage.
