Joe Garner's last-minute strike secured a 1-1 draw for Preston and broke Notts County hearts at Deepdale.
Jake Cassidy had given the visiting Magpies the lead, on his debut, just after the break but Garner netted after 89 minutes to earn a share of the points for North End.
It could have been a different story for Simon Grayson's side, especially after a first half in which they came close to taking the lead on several occasions. Alan Browne hit the woodwork from close range while Paul Gallagher also went close.
County also had their chances, however, and Haydn Hollis spurned a glorious opportunity when he lashed over the bar from close range after Ronan Murray had forced Jamie Jones into a smart save.
And on-loan Wolves winger Cassidy lashed in a superb finish from an acute angle after 52 minutes.
Preston tried to apply late pressure and their persistence paid off in the dying stages when Garner, who had threatened all afternoon, crashed home an excellent drive from just inside the box.
