Huddersfield, Burton Albion both fined following Championship confrontation

Huddersfield and Burton have been fined by the Football Association for failing to control their players.

The Championship fixture in West Yorkshire on April 1 was marred by confrontational scenes after Huddersfield's Michael Hefele had a header cleared off the line by Burton defender Kyle McFadzean.

A melee followed and, after referee Scott Duncan restored order, Town's Dean Whitehead was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 88th minute.

Burton and Huddersfield, the latter chasing promotion to the Premier League, admitted an FA charge of failing to control their players and were hit with fines of £5,000 and £12,500, respectively.

"Burton Albion received the standard penalty for the breach,'' a statement from the FA on Thursday evening, read.

"However, as this was Huddersfield Town's second breach of Rule E20 in a 12-month period -- following a similar incident during their fixture against Leeds United on 5 February 2017 - the case was considered to be 'non-standard.'''

Burton won the game 1-0 with Jackson Irvine's winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time,
