Karel Fraeye dismissed as Charlton coach after Huddersfield humiliation

Charlton have sacked interim head coach Karel Fraeye after the humiliating 5-0 defeat at Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Fraeye took charge at The Valley following the dismissal of Guy Luzon at the end of October but managed just two wins in 14 matches.

Goalkeeper Stephen Henderson was left to face the media on Tuesday night amid speculation Fraeye would go.

And on Wednesday, the Championship strugglers released a statement on their official website confirming the departure of the coach.

It read: "Charlton Athletic have relieved Karel Fraeye of his duties as interim head coach.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Karel for his tireless work and the many positive contributions he made to the wider football setup at Charlton.

"First-team coach Wim de Corte, assisted by Jason Euell, will take charge of the Charlton team for the Hull City match on Saturday.

"A search for a new head coach has commenced."

Ujpest boss Nebojsa Vignjevic has been strongly linked, with Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet also owning the Hungarian club, while former boss Jose Riga is reportedly also in the frame.
