Steve Clarke rejects Fulham, will remain at Reading - reports

Reading manager Steve Clarke has rejected a proposed move to Fulham, multiple outlets in the UK are reporting.

Clarke was reportedly on the verge of taking over at Sky Bet Championship rivals, however has done a U-turn and has resolved to remain at Madejski Stadium, causing Reading to cancel a scheduled news conference at which Clarke was to speak.

Clarke took over at Reading 11 months ago and secured their second-tier status while also leading them to a first FA Cup semifinal for 88 years.

The 52-year-old has built on that promise by turning the Royals into the surprise package of the Championship season so far.

Reading are currently eighth, four places and as many points above Fulham, and only four points off the play-off places.

Press Association contributed to this report.
