Bournemouth agree fee for Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings - sources

Bournemouth have had a club record bid of around £8 million accepted for highly-rated Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings, sources have told ESPN FC.

Mings, 22, is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the country after impressing at Ipswich during the last couple of seasons.

Arsenal were credited with an interest in the left-back last season with Arsene Wenger admitting he was keeping tabs on the player, while Crystal Palace had a £3.5m bid rejected during the transfer window last summer.

A host of Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on Mings, but Bournemouth are in pole position as boss Eddie Howe has made a new left-back one of his top priorities this summer and, despite being linked with Everton's Luke Garbutt, he has pushed forward to complete the deal.

Ipswich signed Mings for £10,000 from non-league Chippenham Town in December 2012 and, although they were keen to keep him, the offer from Bournemouth represents massive profit for the club and will allow Mick McCarthy to strengthen his squad elsewhere.

As part of the deal to take Mings to Bournemouth, the Cherries' highly rated Scottish winger Ryan Fraser will move to Ipswich on a season-long loan deal.

Bournemouth have already signed the likes of Artur Boruc, Adam Federici, Josh King and Christian Atsu this summer.
