Chris Hughton interested in taking over Fulham, sources say

Former Newcastle and Norwich manager Chris Hughton has not held talks with Fulham over their managerial vacancy, but he would be interested in taking over at Craven Cottage, sources have told ESPN.

A report in the Daily Mirror newspaper on Thursday suggested Hughton has held "positive talks" with the Craven Cottage club, who are on the hunt for a new manager after dispensing with the services of Felix Magath last week, but our sources tell us that is not the case at this point.

Hughton has been out of football since he lost his job at Norwich last April and ESPN have been told that the 55-year-old former Republic of Ireland international is eager to be considered for the Fulham post.

Reports suggest former Watford boss Gianfranco Zola and ex-Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood are among those also being considered by Fulham officials, who are eager to appointment a replacement for Magath as soon as possible with their team languishing at the bottom of the Championship standings.

Hughton would appear to be an attractive option for Fulham as he had great success in reviving Newcastle after their relegation to the Championship and securing their instant return to the Premier League in 2010.

He also guided Birmingham to the Championship play-offs in 2012, despite working in a hugely demanding financial set-up at the midlands club.
