Norwich beat Ipswich, Forest top

Lewis Grabban claimed his fourth goal in a week and Norwich their third straight win after deservedly beating local rivals Ipswich 1-0 at Portman Road.

Grabban, a big-money move from Bournemouth in the summer, continued his red-hot form with a 24th minute winner, heading in from close range after indecision from Cole Skuse and keeper Dean Gerken.

Daryl Murphy missed a gilt-edged chance for Ipswich in the second half but Grabban could have claimed a hat-trick after lobbing over when clean through and then seeing a shot cleared off the line by Tommy Smith.

High-flying Nottingham Forest registered another impressive victory when Michail Antonio bagged a brace and Matty Fryatt and Britt Assombalonga also scored in a 4-0 rout of Reading at the City Ground.

At the other end of the table, things went from bad to worse for Fulham as they were crushed 5-1 at Derby, with Scott Parker's goal for the Cottagers proving in vain as Chris Martin's double, plus scores from Jamie Ward, Craig Bryson and Simon Dawkins, left the visitors without a point.

Blackpool also have nothing to show for their first four fixtures following a 1-0 loss at Wigan, with Oriol Riera breaking the deadlock for the Latics after 35 minutes.

There was late drama at Molineux as Wolves edged out Cardiff 1-0 thanks to a Mark Hudson own goal in stoppage time, while Rotherham also prevailed at Millwall 1-0 via a Ben Pringle strike.

Blackburn raced into a 3-0 lead at home to Bournemouth through in-demand frontman Jordan Rhodes, Grant Hanley and Rudy Gestede and Rovers survived a late rally from the Cherries which saw Brett Pitman bag an 81st-minute penalty and Steve Cook further reduce the gap on 90 minutes as the match ended 3-2.

Huddersfield overcame the dismissal of Murray Wallace to hit the front against Charlton through Nahki Wells, but Igor Vetokele earned the Addicks a 1-1 draw in time added on.

There were two red cards at Vicarage Road as Leeds lost debutant Giuseppe Bellusci and Sam Bryan and Watford took full advantage to prevail 4-1, with Fernando Forestieri bagging a brace, Troy Deeney scoring from the spot and Daniel Tozser getting on the scoresheet late on.

Paul Caddis fired in a penalty for Birmingham after Brentford defender Tony Craig was sent for an early bath, but the Bees battled back for a 1-1 draw in the latter stages through Moses Odubajo.

Brighton beat Bolton 2-1 thanks to goals from Craig Mackail-Smith and Joao Carlos Teixeira, while Atdhe Nuhiu hit a double for Sheffield Wednesday as they survived conceding a couple of late penalties to triumph 3-2 at Middlesbrough.
