Man United-West Ham FA Cup replay scheduled for April 13

The FA Cup quarterfinal replay between Manchester United and West Ham will take place on Wednesday, April 13.

The Football Association announced the date for the tie at Upton Park on its website, avoiding a clash with Manchester City's Champions League game the previous week.

A statement from the governing body, accompanying the announcement, read: "Extensive discussions have taken place with all associated parties regarding the scheduling of this fixture, with limited options available.

"The FA recognises the agreed date may not be an ideal solution for all, but believed it was the most appropriate available within the congested football calendar."

The FA has therefore ensured no fine will be imposed by UEFA, as might have been the case had the domestic fixture been scheduled alongside a high-profile European tie.

The replay, required after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to decide who will face Everton at Wembley in the last four 10 days later, will kick off at 7 p.m. and be broadcast live on the BBC.

Discussions had suggested the game would be played the previous Wednesday, but that would have clashed with Manchester City's Champions League quarterfinal first leg at Paris Saint-Germain.

The new date will only clash with the second half of second legs of Benfica-Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid-Barcelona, barring extra time and penalties.
