Two businessmen have been convicted of planning to fix matches in the lower reaches of English football.

On Tuesday, a jury at Birmingham Crown Court found Chann Sankaran and Krishna Ganeshan, both originally from Singapore, guilty of conspiracy to commit bribery.

Hakeem Adelakun, a former player, was cleared of the same charge, while jurors are still considering verdicts on two other players, Moses Swaibu and Michael Boateng.

All three played for non-league Whitehawk, a club in the seaside resort city of Brighton, in the Conference South -- English football's sixth level.

They were arrested in December following an undercover operation by the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
