Phil Neville in frame to be England women's manager - sources

Phil Neville is under consideration for the England women's managerial job, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

Former Manchester United and Everton full-back Neville has held coaching positions with United and Valencia since ending his playing career in 2013. However, the 40-year-old is still searching for his first position in management.

Mo Marley was placed in temporary charge of the national side following Mark Sampson's sacking in September, winning both of her games in charge. It is understood that Marley has also applied for the job on a full time basis while the FA is also keen to speak to other applicants for the role.

England, currently ranked third in the world, are aiming to reach the Women's World Cup, and they currently lie second in their group, a point behind leaders Wales with a game in hand ahead of their meeting on April 6.

Neville, who earned 59 England caps during his playing career, has recently followed several of England's players, including Jill Scott and the team's captain Steph Houghton, while he has also followed the official Lionesses' Twitter account as well as the account of the U.S. Women's team.
