Manchester United's Phil Jones limps off in England draw against Germany

England manager Gareth Southgate reveals Phil Jones was fine after he was taken off due to injury and applauded his side's tactical performance against Germany.
Gareth Southgate is full of praise for Ruben Loftus-Cheek after his performance on his England debut against Germany.

Phil Jones limped off in England's 0-0 friendly draw with Germany on Friday, but manager Gareth Southgate doesn't expect his injury to be serious.

The Manchester United defender was taken off the field in the 25th minute with his thigh heavily strapped after making a fine clearing header of a Leroy Sane effort at goal.

Liverpool's Joe Gomez, who made his England debut, took his place in the back line.

Southgate said after the match that Jones, who had been carrying an injury for the past few days, suffered a small tweak and would likely be fine.

Southgate added he will decide whether Jones should be risked in England's upcoming friendly against Brazil.

"We'll see whether Phil stays with us,'' he said.
