FA, Premier League and EFL vow to investigate corruption allegations

The English Football Association, Premier League and English Football League (EFL) have released a joint statement insisting that any allegations of corruption will be investigated fully.

The FA was forced to part company with England manager Sam Allardyce after the Daily Telegraph's undercover sting brought an end to his reign after just one match and 67 days at the helm.

Secretly-filmed video footage showed Allardyce making numerous controversial remarks about subjects varying from England players to circumventing FA regulations against third-party ownership, and side work to his employers.

More revelations are expected this week from the paper, with the League Managers Association (LMA) already expressing concern following a  report suggesting eight managers who have worked in the Premier League may have taken "bungs."

"English football takes the governance of the game extremely seriously with integrity being of paramount importance," it said.

"Any substantive allegations will be investigated with the full force of the rules at our disposal, which are wide-ranging and well-developed. In addition, should we find any evidence of criminality we would inform and seek the support of the appropriate statutory authorities."

England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate has been parachuted into the hotseat for England's four remaining matches in 2016.
