Fraser Forster misses England qualifier in Slovakia with arm injury - report

Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster has been forced out of England's World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on Sunday after suffering an arm injury, Press Association Sport reports.

Forster has been sent back to his club to receive treatment and England boss Sam Allardyce is expected to call up a replacement.

Joe Hart is now favourite to start Sunday's clash in Slovakia, having just completed a loan move to Torino from Manchester City.

Forster had been in the frame to start what will be the first match of Allardyce's reign.

Meanwhile, Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater has said he wants to cement a place in Allardyce's England setup after missing out on the Euro 2016 squad under Roy Hodgson.

"I would love to play," he said. "But it is not going to be easy, I know that. We have got some good quality here, some extremely good midfield players and if I need to I will just bide my time."

His chances of making the starting lineup could depend on whether Leicester teammate is chosen to start in attack.

"You know the relationship I have got on the pitch with Vards," Drinkwater said. "It was shown that quite a lot last season what a ball in behind can do for Vards and, if that is something we utilise again this season, then brilliant."
