Liverpool's Jordon Ibe wants England call-up over Nigeria - Sunday Oliseh

Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe will give priority to an England international call-up over Nigeria, according to Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.

Ibe, 19, was recently called up to England's under-21 squad, though the London-born teenager also qualifies to play for Nigeria through his father, David.

Oliseh made a personal approach to Ibe back in August to try and persuade the winger to switch his international allegiance from England.

Ibe could still play for Nigeria because he has not yet played for England in a senior competitive international, but Oliseh now says the youngster has decided to push for a place in Roy Hodgson's Three Lions squad.

The Nigeria coach tweeted on Sunday: "Jordon Ibe's family informed me by a telephone call, that he was giving priority to an England call-up. We wish them well."

Sources told ESPN FC that Oliseh visited Ibe at the Reds' Melwood training base for talks in August after he impressed for Liverpool during the second half of last season following an early recall from his loan spell at Championship side Derby.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has indicated that Ibe -- who has featured mainly as a wing-back -- will have a significant role to play for his club over the coming months.
