Liverpool's Jordon Ibe and Joe Gomez named in England under-21 squad

Liverpool duo Jordon Ibe and Joe Gomez, along with Everton's Brendan Galloway, are among 14 uncapped players included in the England under-21 squad for the forthcoming matches against United States and Norway.

Manchester United forward James Wilson and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Delle Ali are also new names within the 23-man party announced on Tuesday morning.

The Young Lions, looking to bounce back from a disappointing European U21 Championship campaign over the summer in which they finished bottom of their group, face USA under-23s on Sept. 3 at Preston's Deepdale before taking on Norway U21 on Sept. 7.

This squad effectively represents a new intake of players with many of those who played through qualifying and in the Euro U21 finals in the Czech Republic now over-age.

There are eight players who have been capped previously at U21 level, with Arsenal's Calum Chambers, Tottenham's Eric Dier and Southampton's Matt Targett on hand to help the new faces at the back.

James Ward-Prowse, Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jake Forster-Caskey return too, while Norwich winger Nathan Redmond also features again.

Wilson, Sunderland's Duncan Watmore and Wolves duo Kortney Hause and Dominic Iorfa make the step-up from last year's under-20s, along with Arsenal's Chuba Akpom.
