2014-15 season set to break record for managerial sackings in England - LMA

The 2014-15 season is set to break all records for managerial sackings with 40 coaches across the top four English divisions dismissed by the end of March, according to research from the League Managers Association (LMA).

The highest previous figure up to the same point in the season was the 36 dismissals in the 2012-13 campaign.

The total of 16 dismissals in this season's Championship was four up on the previous high of 12, also during the 2012-13 season.

The LMA says that if the trend continues the previous record of 46 for a full season, set in 2006-07, will be exceeded. The average tenure of the managers dismissed so far this season is 1.24 years.

Fifteen of the 40 managers dismissed so far this season have been first time managers, while the LMA describes the average tenure of current Championship bosses as "worryingly low" at 0.74 years.

Premier League sackings at this point are down to five from last year's total of eight, with top-flight coaches lasting longer than Championship coaches with an average of 2.27 years in the dugout.

Arsene Wenger is the longest-serving manager from the survey, having been at Arsenal for 18.51 years and being in charge for 1058 games.
