Nathaniel Clyne set for England debut, Wayne Rooney to land 100th cap

England coach Roy Hodgson has handed Nathaniel Clyne his international debut for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia on Saturday evening, with captain Wayne Rooney set to earn his 100th cap.

Right-back Clyne, 23, has been in fine form for Southampton this season as the Saints sit second in the Premier League table, and earned his second call-up to the national squad this week.

Manchester United and Three Lions captain Rooney starts alongside Danny Welbeck in attack and will secure a century of England appearances, while Kieran Gibbs replaces the injured Leighton Baines at left-back.

England can extend their lead at the top of Group E with a victory at Wembley after winning their first three qualifying matches without conceding a goal.

England starting XI vs. Slovenia: Hart; Clyne, Jagielka, Cahill, Gibbs; Sterling, Henderson, Wilshere, Lallana, Rooney, Welbeck.
