Eintracht Frankfurt's Jesus Vallejo training ahead of DFB Pokal final

Jesus Vallejo has resumed individual training at Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of the DFB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund on May 27, raising hope of the defender making one more appearance before his loan from Real Madrid ends.

Vallejo, 20, in mid-April sustained a tendon injury in his left thigh, and it has been unclear whether he could return to the Frankfurt squad.

With the DFB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund just over a week away, Vallejo on Tuesday resumed individual training at Eintracht Frankfurt, and could make one final appearance for Die Adler on May 27 if things go according to plan.

"We don't want to take any risks with Jesus and Alex [Meier,]" coach Niko Kovac told reporters, also referring to forward Alex Meier who resumed training following a heel injury. "We want to build them up with a view to the cup final."

While Eintracht are open to extending Vallejo's loan for another season, as things stand the defender will return to the Bernabeu in the summer where a space in the squad could open up with Pepe, 34, set to leave following the Champions League final.
