Eintracht Frankfurt fans to barbecue 'DFB pig' to protest stadium closure

Eintracht Frankfurt ultras are to protest against the club's partial stadium closure for the match against Bayern Munich on Saturday by barbecuing a "German Football Association (DFB) pig" ahead of the game.

The Commerzbank-Arena's standing block 40 will be closed for the Bundesliga clash after the DFB imposed sanctions following incidents at Eintracht's DFB Pokal match with Magdeburg in August.

Eintracht supporters lit smoke pots and used the ensuing smokescreen to fire a tracer into the neighbouring Magdeburg block.

Eintracht also suffered the same fate in their opening home game of the season against Schalke, with many fans forced from their seats, leading to a spate of complaints directed at the club.

According to kicker, ultras from standing block 40, which houses around 2000 fans, have got around the latest ban by buying tickets instead for the upper tier.

Eintracht's latest appeal against the sanctions failed on Monday and the match against Bayern has been sold out for months.

The club's ultras have printed a flyer ahead of the game, revealing plans to march from Germany's financial capital's city centre to the stadium.

"Food and drink will be available," the flyer reads. "As a special highlight we are personally barbecuing a live DFB pig."

Eintracht executive Axel Hellmann told Bild: "We have mixed feelings. Every provocation that emanates from this fan group isn't good for Eintracht Frankfurt."
