Eintracht Frankfurt's Guillermo Varela faces four months out injured - report

Manchester United loanee Guillermo Varela has reportedly been ruled out for three to four months after injuring ankle ligaments while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Varela, 23, who joined Frankfurt for the season in July, sustained the problem during the 1-0 loss to Darmstadt on Saturday after colliding with opposition striker Sven Schipplock.

Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac confirmed the injury after the game, while reports in Germany claim that the Uruguayan will now undergo surgery on Tuesday before facing up to four months on the sidelines.

"I immediately had a bad feeling. It was a very unnecessary tackle," Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic told kicker.

Varela arrived at United from Penarol in the summer of 2013 and spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Real Madrid Castilla.
