Mohamed Salah scored a wondergoal to take his Egypt tally up to 40 goals as the Pharaohs defeated Eswatini 4-1 in Friday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, but was forced to limp off late with an injury.

The Liverpool forward found the net in the 45th minute directly from a corner following goals from Ahmed El Mohamady, Amr Warda and Trezeguet.

Sibonginkosi Gamedze netted a consolation for the visitors.

Salah's goal makes him Egypt's all-time top scorer in AFCON qualifying, with his tally of 13 putting him ahead of Hossam Hassan on 12.

Hassan is the Pharaohs' all-time top scorer on 79 goals, with Hassan El Shazali second on 44, and Salah in third.

However, the 26-year-old's evening was marred when he hobbled off with an injury at the death.

Egypt assistant manager Hanzy Ramzy later told BeIn Sports [via Ahram Online] that the initial diagnosis was that Salah had suffered a muscular injury.

The win takes Egypt provisionally up to second in AFCON qualifying Group J, having taken six points from their opening three matches.

Group leaders Tunisia, also on six points, host Niger on Saturday.
