Former Tottenham manager Martin Jol has quit Egyptian giants Al Ahly

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Martin Jol has resigned as coach of Egyptian side Ah Ahly, following a dismal run of results.

The club announced Jol's exit on Thursday, after a short six-month reign under the Dutchman.

While the 60-year-old managed to guide Al Ahly to the Egyptian Premier League title last season, he could not prevent the club from losing to archrivals Zamalek in the Egypt Cup Final on Aug. 8.

Along with their elimination from the CAF Champions League, with one group game against ASEC Mimosas to go, both parties decided to part ways.

"Ahly have amicably terminated the contract of Martin Jol at his request. He will be replaced in the interim by his assistant Ossama Orabi," a statement read on the club's official website.

Besides Tottenham, Jol has also coached at Fulham, Ajax Amsterdam, Hamburger SV and Roda JC.
