Francesco Guidolin satisfied with Swansea's EFL win over Peterborough

Francesco Guidolin declared himself "satisfied'' with Swansea's smooth passage into the third round of the EFL Cup, after a 3-1 win away to Peterborough United.

The Italian chief made 10 changes for the visit to the ABAX Stadium, but his fringe players seized the opportunity to shine as the 2013 winners advanced.

Rookie striker Ollie McBurnie enjoyed a dream debut as he bagged two goals in the space of three minutes just before the break.

The 20-year-old had earlier played a prominent part in the Swans' opener after 15 minutes as Jay Fulton also netted his first goal for the club.

And the Premier League outfit held on for a comfortable victory, despite League One hosts Posh upping the ante in the second half.

Substitute Leo Da Silva Lopes, 17, hit a spectacular consolation to register his first senior goal before Tom Nichols struck a post late on.

Guidolin, who also handed a debut to new defensive signing Mike van der Hoorn, said: "The game looks easy now, but I can assure you that nothing is easy in this job.

"We played some good football in the first half and I'm satisfied with what I saw.

"I am happy to see a young player like Ollie score goals. He is improving all the time and has been working with the first team for the last two months.

"It was nice for Jay to do well too and for other young lads to be on the pitch.

"The memories are good for Swansea in this competition. It is good that we can go forward again and I can learn more about some players.''

When asked if he intends to add to his squad in the remaining days of the transfer window, Guidolin added: "I don't know if we will. I will have to speak to the chairman and make my ideas more clear.''

Posh boss Grant McCann admitted: "It is frightening for a team to be able to make 10 changes and still field a team of the quality that Swansea did.

"But we gave them way too much respect in the first half and paid the price for it. We sat off and allowed them to play around us at will when we should have been setting about them and getting our fans on the edge of their seats.

"I told my assistant I was worried Swansea might get six or seven if it continued, but we had a few nasty words with the lads and they reacted.

"Young Leo came on and scored a terrific goal and we were unlucky not to get another when hitting the post.

"The challenge now is to make sure we get into the right mindset to start games how we finished this one.''
