Fernando Navarro wants justice after death of Deportivo ultra

Deportivo La Coruna defender Fernando Navarro has called for "justice" with a police enquiry into the death of a Depor ultra in a fight with Atletico Madrid radical supporters still ongoing 11 months after the event.

Francisco Javier Romero Taboada -- known as "Jimmy" -- was killed during a organised street battle with Atletico's ultras before the teams met in November 2014 at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

The early morning fight along the banks Madrid's Manzanares river was witnessed by many local residents, and video footage was handed over to police. A significant number of supporters of both clubs have since been arrested and questioned but nobody has yet been found guilty of causing Jimmy's death.

Friday night's La Liga meeting between the teams at the Estadio Riazor will see a Xustiza para Jimmy (Justice for Jimmy) memorial protest beforehand organised by the Riazor Blues group, of which he was a high profile member.

The fixture has been deemed 'high-risk' by the Spanish police, although trouble is not expected with no Atletico fans officially making the trip.

At the pregame news conference, Navarro said he did not want to comment too specifically on the issue, but he did feel that justice had yet to be done.

"It is not up to me to talk about this, I am here to talk about football," Navarro said. "But as an personal opinion, when there is a death or a serious issue, the most just is that the guilty parties are found, the justice authorities are there for that. I like to live in a just world, and I believe in this justice."
