Mamadou Sakho up for Crystal Palace Player of the Year after just 8 games

Mamadou Sakho has been shortlisted for Crystal Palace's Fans' Player Of The Season award -- despite having only made eight appearances for the club this term.

Sakho is up for the award alongside Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend, Christian Benteke, Yohan Cabaye and Jason Puncheon.

However, Sakho's nomination comes after featuring just eight times for Palace, having only joined them on loan from Liverpool in January.

The defender has, though, been a key player for Palace in that time, with the club winning five of the eight games he has played in while only losing two.

Sakho, who is due to return to Liverpool at the end of the season, is currently sidelined with a knee injury, with Palace losing their last two games in his absence, meaning they are still not safe from Premier League relegation.
