Sam Allardyce: Crystal Palace confidence returning as pressure lifts

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce believes the pressure is beginning to lift from his players after they won at West Bromwich Albion to clamber out of the bottom three.

It was a second successive Premier League win for Palace, following their home victory over fellow strugglers Middlesbrough last weekend.

Second-half goals from Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend secured a 2-0 win and Allardyce said: "All the players are working hard, and they were working hard without really knowing it because the pressure is coming off them.

"They are relieving themselves of all that pressure they have been putting themselves under for most of this season.

"When you get results, that pressure lifts and you are running around with more freedom. You're not realising how much running you're doing because you're enjoying it that little bit more."

He said the Palace players "deserve to enjoy what they have done here" after a victory that sent Middlesbrough into the relegation zone in their place.
