Man arrested on suspicion of trying to punch Crystal Palace's bald eagle

Police in London on Friday arrested a man on suspicion of trying to punch Crystal Palace's bald eagle mascot in September.

A 34-year-old from suburban Welling was arrested and taken into custody in south London.

The arrest comes in the same week that six others were arrested in raids after an investigation into violent conduct after the Sept. 23 Capital One Cup match against rival club Charlton Athletic.

Kayla, an American bald eagle, has flown around Selhurst Park before Palace's home games since 2010.

She is kept at Eagle Heights Wildlife Foundation in Kent.
