Yohan Cabaye to Crystal Palace talks progressing positively - sources

Talks between representatives of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye and Crystal Palace are progressing positively, a source has told ESPN FC.

ESPN FC reported at the start of June that Palace had launched a bid to sign France international Cabaye, and the Premier League club have now confirmed publicly that talks are underway to bring the 29-year-old back to the Premier League.

Cabaye enjoyed a strong working relationship with Palace manager Alan Pardew when the pair worked together at Newcastle, and Palace co-owner Steve Parish told talkSPORT that he is hopeful a deal can be struck to sign the playmaker.

"Yohan Cabaye is definitely one we'd like to do," Parish said. "It would be a massive thing for the club obviously because he's a seasoned international.

"Getting the top players is difficult. It's a difficult transfer market right now -- it's a bit blocked up, no one really wants to go first, no one wants to set the valuation. We've finished 10th and 12th, we've done well but we want to do better than that.

"For us to get into the top 10 in the Premier League, we've got to be bringing in people that are top 10 Premier League players. It's not easy, because everyone wants those players."

Sources have already confirmed to ESPN FC that Cabaye, who has struggled to make his mark at PSG since moving from Newcastle in January 2014, is open to the prospect of joining Palace as he looks to secure regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2016.
