Crystal Palace have won the race to sign former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, sources have told ESPNFC.
Ameobi is a free agent after leaving Turkish club Gaziantep last month and he has been seeking a move back to the Premier League.
West Brom and Queens Park Rangers had expressed an interest in Ameobi, but Palace are poised to secure his signature.
Ameobi was down in south London for talks with Palace officials on Tuesday and those talks have gone smoothly.
The 33-year-old is thought to have agreed to a short-term deal until the end of the season at Selhurst Park.
The move will see Ameobi link up again with Alan Pardew after the pair worked together at Newcastle.
Ameobi will become Pardew's second signing of this month's transfer window following the arrival of Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal.
