Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish insists the club are ready to back Neil Warnock in the transfer market. The returning Selhurst Park chief faces a race against time to add to his squad with the transfer window closing on Monday. He takes charge of Palace's Barclays Premier League trip to Newcastle on Saturday after signing a two-year deal to return to the club he left in 2010. "We've got the transfer window closing on Monday and I think he'd want to bring a few in, so hopefully we've got some more good news for supporters in the next few days." He continued: "I've known Neil since the club went into administration. Funnily enough, the first time I met Neil properly was when we flew to Newcastle the night we went into admin. "He's someone who has always been helpful to me and offered advice and I think he's a safe pair of hands for us right now. "I think he's got unfinished business. I think he's got things he wants to prove to himself. I think he likes the club and has a lot of affection for the fans and he felt a good fit." Warnock replaced Tony Pulis, who left two weeks ago, after beating ex-West Brom boss Steve Clarke to the job. He left Palace four years ago and joined QPR after an initial two-and-a-half year spell at Selhurst Park. Parish turned to Warnock after giving up on Malky Mackay when the Scot admitted to sending a series of "completely unacceptable" text messages during his time in charge of Cardiff. "Malky was someone who interviewed very well," Parish said. "It was impossible to offer him the job. From a footballing point of view Malky was a very good candidate but unfortunately there were things that obviously meant we couldn't bring him to the club." Parish wants to keep Keith Millen at the club after the coach took caretaker charge but Warnock has been linked with bringing in Notts County boss Shaun Derry, who he managed at QPR. Warnock's long-standing assistant Mick Jones has also refused to rule himself out. "I speak to Neil anyway but nothing has been decided or talked about," he told Press Association Sport. "We're quite relaxed about things, we have a great working and personal relationship and common sense tells you he'll be on the phone to me but we haven't discussed it." And Jones believes Warnock and Parish will be the perfect fit for the club. The former Eagles assistant, who has worked with Warnock at Sheffield United, Palace, QPR and Leeds reckons the pair will thrive together. Ex-boss Pulis left after claims of disagreements with Parish, something which the chairman denied. "The attraction of Palace is huge, he knows the chairman very well and they have a very good working relationship," said Jones. "Neil loved working with Simon Jordan (former chairman) and he's going back to a similar situation, although it's a Premier League club now.
"No-one can question the chairman's loyalty to Palace because he is a Palace fan, he hasn't just bought the football club from the outside."
