Chile head coach Juan Antonio Pizzi believes his side will have to be better than they have been so far this Copa America Centenario if they are to defeat Mexico in Saturday's quarterfinal and continue to defend their crown.
La Roja set up the showdown with El Tri in Santa Clara, Calif. after finishing as runners-up in Group D by defeating Panama 4-2 on Tuesday.
"To defeat Mexico, we'll have to be above our usual level, as much in footballing terms as emotionally," Pizzi said after Chile's match.
"[Mexico] are a great team," he added. "They have gone 22 games without losing and have conceded only two goals in their last [10] games.
"They have players and European level and will have 80 percent of the stands in their favor."
Chile and Mexico met in San Diego in the final warm-up game for both ahead of the Copa America, with El Tri taking a 1-0 victory thanks to a late Javier Hernandez goal, although Chile had the better of the first half.
"It'll be different," said Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal. "Mexico will bring a lot of people, but we are calm, we have a good team and we'll give everything in the game."

The two sides played out a 3-3 draw in the group stage of the Copa America 2015, with the overall record between the two reading 15 wins for Mexico, 10 victories for Chile and four ties over the 29 matches played.
Mexico arrived in San Jose on Tuesday evening ahead of Saturday's clash at Levi's Stadium, with the extent of Javier Aquino's injury still not known. Chile are scheduled to arrive on Thursday.
