Wes Morgan to miss Jamaica's Copa America Centenario opener

Wes Morgan will miss Jamaica's first game of the Copa America Centenario, against Venezuela, because he is tired from Leicester's Premier League title win, coach Winfried Schafer has explained.

Morgan, 32, was an ever-present for the Foxes as they won the title for the first time in their history, and Schafer is hopeful that once he starts training he will be in contention to play their second match.

He told the Sunday Gleaner: "Our team is complete. Wes Morgan has come, but he is tired; that is clear.

"All week, he has not trained. He partied in London and Thailand, but I am very happy he is here and maybe he can help [play] in the second match, but not the first match because it is too difficult."

Schafer labelled the Reggae Boyz clash with Venezuela as a must-win but is under no illusions his side will have to be on top form to take three points.

He said: "We want to win. We have to win. It's important. We watched 20 minutes of Costa Rica vs. Venezuela and they are a very good team, good discipline.

"It will not be easy; it will be a very difficult match. This [Venezuela] team is behind us and we can't [afford to] lose. They, however, can get a good result if we are not careful."
