Sergio Aguero: 'It appears there's a different football' in Copa America

Argentina striker Sergio Aguero claimed a lack of protection from officials after being booked for protesting about his treatment by defenders during the quarterfinal win over Colombia.

Argentina, the tournament favourites, won on penalties after a goalless draw and have struggled to produce the attacking threat many had predicted.

Manchester City star Aguero indicated he believed that was because of rough treatment by opposition defences, while skipper Lionel Messi told reporters: "It's terrible what it's costing me to get a goal."

Argentina are the lowest scorers in the tournament despite having reached the last four, in which they face Paraguay on Tuesday.

In their four games so far, Aguero has two goals and Gonzalo Higuain one, while Messi has scored from the penalty spot.

"I don't understand -- it appears there's a different football in South America," Aguero told reporters after the Colombia match, in which he saw appeals for a penalty turned down.

"The referee said: 'This is [Latin] America, kids,' yet we're from here," he added, referring to comments he claimed Mexican Roberto Garcia Orozco had made about forwards not being able to expect the same sort of protection they got in European leagues.
