Brazil to face Mexico in friendly before Copa America

SAO PAULO -- The Brazilian football federation says the national team will play Mexico on June 7 as part of their preparations for the Copa America.

The game will be held at Palmeiras' 43,000-capacity Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo.

It will be Brazil's first match after coach Dunga announces the Copa America squad on May 5, and the second-to-last before the South American tournament begins in Chile. Brazil are also expected to play Honduras three days later at the Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre.

Brazil were held by Mexico to a goalless draw in the group stage of the World Cup last year. It will be the Selecao's first match at home since their disappointing performance in the World Cup.

Brazil debut in Copa America Group C on June 14 against Peru. Mexico are in Group A and start June 12 against Bolivia.

Mexico are one of two teams from outside CONMEBOL invited to the tournament, along with Jamaica, but " target="_blank">El Tri could send a "B" team to the South American event as the CONCACAF Gold Cup begins three days after the Copa final.
