The President of Brazil's Football Association thinks winning next year's Copa America will make up for the disappointment of not winning the World Cup. (3:19)

Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president Jose Maria Marin says the nation "went to hell" during the 2014 World Cup but is hopeful the Selecao will get back on track at next year's Copa America.

Brazil hosted the World Cup for the first time since 1950 in the summer, and were hoping to make amends for their shock defeat to Uruguay in the final of that tournament.

The 2014 event proved no less painful, however, as a team managed by Luiz Felipe Scolari succumbed to a 7-1 defeat to eventual champions Germany in the semifinals.

Dunga has since returned to take charge of the side and, with the Copa America in Chile taking place in June and July next year, Marin is optimistic that they can begin making amends for their miserable World Cup.

"We need to bring joy to the Brazilian people," Marin told the competition's official website. "As I said before, before the World Cup we were in limbo. We could have reached the sky or fallen to hell.

"We went to hell but we are already leaving it. We are back in limbo again it appears. And winning the Copa America could help us go back on the way towards the sky.

"The Copa America will be difficult. That's my honest opinion. All the teams that will play are great teams."

The draw for the 2015 Copa America takes place on Monday.
