90th minute: This one should be wrapped up fairly quickly here. Don't expect much stoppage time.
85th minute GOAL ARGENTINA! Huge error from Birnbaum and Argentina add a fourth. Birnbaum, for whatever reason, tries a dummy and Argentina is there to pounce. Higuain with the goal. United States 0-4 Argentina
84th minute: There's the Argentina change. Rojo off, Cuesta on.
83rd minute: U.S. really looking to get a goal to end their tournament on a positive. Argentina breaks, Messi shoots and saved by Guzan.
80th minute: Last Argentina sub coming on. Victor Cuesta, defender.
77th minute: U.S. sub. Darlington Nagbe on, Dempsey off.
75th minute: Argentina pretty content to rotate and pass the ball around and wait for their chances.
73rd minute: Argentina really having their way. U.S. unable to connect with their passing. Story of the night. Argentina quality just too much.
70th minute: U.S. trying to get a goal to salvage something from the affair. Still does not have a shot on goal.
67th minute: Corner kick for the U.S.! Argentina clear and immediately break. End up earning a corner.
63rd minute: Lavezzi goes over the sponsor barrier! Lands hard and appears to be hurt. he hit that thing hard and then tumbled quickly over. Scary moment. Erik Lamela coming on for Argentina.
62nd minute: Another Argentina man down. Rojo. Left leg.
60th minute: U.S. sub. Steve Birnbaum on, Kyle Beckerman off. Cameron moves into midfield from the looks of it.
56th minute: Looks like we have an Argentina injury. Augusto Fernandez. Atletico Madrid man leaving the match. Martino will have to go to his bench. Lucas Biglia gets the call.
53rd minute: U.S. in a major hole after that third goal. Hard for them to get any traction in attack. Zardes perhaps the best player for the U.S. going forward tonight.
50th minute: GOAL ARGENTINA! Gonzalo Higuain makes it 3-0. Lavezzi plays a ball into Higuain, who beats the offside trap and eventually flicks a shot in past Guzan. United States 0-3 Argentina
48th minute: U.S. having to get aggressive to get back in the game. Argentina in control though to start the half.
46th minute: Back underway in Houston! We have a change! Christian Pulisic coming on for the U.S. Wondo off
HALFTIME: United States 0-2 Argentina
45th minute: Cameron fouls Lavezzi hard. Free kick from near midfield for Argentina. Free kick taken and played back. Long ball then played up to Lavezzi, who is offside and collides with Guzan. Lavezzi down on the ground. Some words and pushing and shoving exchanged as half ends.
43rd minute: Best look from the U.S. Zardes crosses into with Dempsey waiting but Argentina heads it away to safety. That was close.
41st minute: Corner kick from Argentina. Have to think that a third goal here before halftime would all but end the U.S.'s chances. U.S. clear corner kick temporarily, but Argentina still with ball in U.S. half.
39th minute: Still very little in attack from the U.S. Large majority of possession residing with Argentina.
35th minute: U.S. are in a hole now. It will be interesting to see how Klinsmann responds at halftime. Most important thing for U.S. though is to not concede again before the break.
32nd minute: GOAL ARGENTINA!! And it's MESSI! Messi takes the resulting free kick and curls an absolutely stunning left-footer into the top right corner of the net. United States 0-2 Argentina.
31st minute: U.S. looking to apply pressure at the right moments to try to force a mistake. Error from U.S. gives Argentina chance and Messi draws a yellow on Wondo for a foul.
28th minute: Clint Dempsey collides with Javier Mascherano and Mascherano is on the ground, holding his throat. Dempsey elbowed him.
26th minute: U.S. are making Argentina play backward. Nice shape from the U.S. Staying patient. Argentina still a threat though with just one pass.
22nd minute: Save Guzan! Argentina takes a quick free kick, Gonzalo Higuain gets in on goal but Geoff Cameron and Guzan shut him down.
21st minute: Defensively, the U.S. have improved since the early Argentina goal, forcing Argentina into some wayward crosses. Attack still lacking though.
18th minute: U.S. having difficulty stringing together some passes. Look rushed and uncomfortable.
15th minute: Michael Bradley gives it away, ball finds Messi, who fights off three defenders and rifles a left-footer that Guzan saves.
13th minute: Argentina with the possession in the U.S. Very content to pass the ball around. Not getting very much pressure from the U.S.
11th minute: Argentina player on the turf. Ramiro Funes Mori. A bit wobbly but appears to be OK after colliding with Chris Wondolowski.
8th minute: Messi almost connects on a Marcos Rojo cross from the left. A little bit lower and it could have been 2-0.
7th minute: U.S. seeking a response. Some positive moments here for the U.S. Free kick in Argentina half that is eventually cleared.
4th minute: GOAL ARGENTINA Ezequiel Lavezzi gives Argentina a dream start. U.S. can't clear and Lavezzi pops a header in past Brad Guzan to make it 1-0 to Argentina.
1st minute: Early danger from Argentina, but U.S. clears for the moment.

Thanks so much for joining us tonight for live chat and analysis of the first Copa semifinal, being played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The U.S. will need many miracles strung together in order to beat Lionel Messi & Argentina but we've seen stranger things happen. Football is, as the cliche goes, a funny old game. It's also a game of two halves, but that quip doesn't quite fit yet.
