D.C. United through to CCL knockout round, 10-man RSL earn draw

D.C. United beat Arabe Unido 2-0 to make it three wins from three matches in Group H of the CONCACAF Champions League.

The Major League Soccer outfit wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Chris Pontius found Connor Doyle with a cross in the first minute and Doyle slotted home past goalkeeper Miguel Lloyd.

Jared Jeffrey doubled the hosts lead in the 22nd minute, burying one from close range. The co-leaders of MLS's Eastern Conference are now guaranteed a spot in the knockout rounds of CONCACAF's club competition.

In Group G action, 10-man Real Salt Lake held on for a 0-0 draw with Santa Tecla. John Stertzer was handed yellow cards in the 73rd and 79th minute and was subsequently sent off.

RSL struggled to generate scoring chances on the road against the Salvadoran side and were out shot 10 to seven.

Kyle Beckerman came on in the 81st minute but was unable to help his team break the deadlock.

The draw puts RSL in first place in Group H with a game in hand over rivals Municipal and a better goal differential.
