LA Galaxy smash Comunicaciones 5-0, Tigres hold on to beat Metapan

The LA Galaxy are still perfect in the CONCACAF Champions League after beating Guatemalan club Comunicaciones 5-0 in its second group stage match.

Alan Gordon scored twice -- once in the first half and once in the second -- and Robbie Keane added two after coming on as a second half substitute as the home team eased to its second win in as many games.

Mika Vayrynen opened the scoring for the Galaxy in the fifth minute when he put home a Giovani dos Santos cross from the center of the penalty area.

Gordon doubled LA's lead four minutes later with a left-footed shot from just outside the area. With the game out of reach, Keane added goals in the 87th and 89th minute to add to his CCL goals tally.

The Galaxy play Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago for the second time in Group D play on Sept. 23.

Tigres put their Copa Libertadores disappointment behind them with a 2-1 win at home against Metapan. Alonso Zamora scored twice for the hosts, while David Rugamas pulled one back for Metapan.

The win sets up a pivotal group match for Tigres against Herediano on Aug. 26 for control of Group B.

Queretaro had a tough time with Hankook Verdes of Belize as the two clubs battled to a goalless draw.
