Columbus Crew give new contract to goalkeeper Steve Clark

The Columbus Crew have given goalkeeper Steve Clark a new contract, the club announced on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Clark excelled for the Crew last season, playing ever game after spending four seasons playing in Norway.

The 28-year-old racked up eight shutouts an held opponents to 1.24 goals per game, second-best in MLS, in his debut season.

"As a leader on the field and in the community, we are excited to have Steve Clark committed to Columbus for the foreseeable future," Crew coach Gregg Berhalter said.

"His attributes complement our system and over the course of a year, Steve has established himself among the League's top goalkeepers."
