Dan Gardner is available to finally make his Oldham debut when they face unbeaten Wigan.

The midfielder was Latics' first signing of the summer but was sent off in the final game of last season for Chesterfield so has been banned for the first three fixtures of this campaign.

He is likely to be one of several changes for a side that have lost their opening three contests, with Belgian winger Gyamfi Kyeremeh also waiting on a debut having been an unused substitute at Walsall.

Former Manchester United forward Nick Powell's second-half brace earned Wigan a 4-1 win over Bury and maintained Paul Cook's 100 per cent start as manager.

After Bury debutant Alex Bruce had cancelled out Michael Jacobs' opener, 23-year-old Powell scored twice in the space of 11 second-half minutes to take his tally to eight in his last eight appearances, with Lee Evans then adding a fourth late on.

It was Powell who teed up Jacobs for the first in the 13th minute with a brilliant cross from the left...

Wigan Athletic booked their place in the second round of the Carabao Cup - but Blackpool will wonder how they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the DW Stadium.

Despite dominating the first half, the Seasiders somehow found themselves trailing 2-0 at the break.

Josh Laurent marked his first Wigan start with the opening goal on 17 minutes.

And Jordan Flores - who spent the second half of last term on loan at Bloomfield Road - doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

WIGAN, England -- Mohamed Salah marked his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt with a goal after he netted the equalising goal in Friday night's 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic in a friendly.

Salah cancelled out Alex Gilbey's opener for the hosts with a tap-in right on the stroke half-time to conclude an impressive 45-minute outing.

After standard immigration procedure kept him out of Wednesday's short trip to Tranmere Rovers, Salah played the entire of the first half at the DW Stadium -- his first...

Paul Cook leaves Portsmouth to take over Wigan

Paul Cook has left Portsmouth to move to Wigan.

Wigan have announced the appointment of Portsmouth boss Paul Cook as their new manager.

Cook eplaces interim manager Graham Barrow, who left the club on Monday alongside backroom staff Mick Rathbone, John Doolan and Jimmy...
