Wigan inflicted a first home defeat in 11 league matches on Blackpool as Chey Dunkley struck twice in a 3-1 win at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool were gifted an eighth-minute lead after a defensive mix-up as Dunkley tried to head the ball back to his keeper but put it over the advancing Jamie Jones and Kyle Vassell prodded in on the line.

Nick Powell almost hit back after 16 minutes but fired straight at Ryan Allsop from the edge of the area.

But Wigan, unbeaten now in six league games, were level in first-half...

Sam Morsy saved Wigan from a shock defeat at Gillingham but a 1-1 draw means they fall off the top of League One.

Morsy levelled with five minutes remaining after Tom Eaves had put the managerless Gills in front just before the hour mark, but Shrewsbury move back to the top of the table.

The best chances of the first half fell to Latics.

Dan Burn headed over the crossbar from a corner and Michael Jacobs' shooting was a constant threat, but Gillingham played with belief and would have taken a certain...

Goals from Michael Jacobs, Nick Powell and Ivan Toney sent Wigan to the top of Sky Bet League One on goal difference thanks to a convincing 3-0 victory over Southend.

Although Powell and Toney's goals came in the last six minutes, the scoreline in no way flattered the home side, who were head and shoulders above their opponents even before Jermaine McGlashan was sent off on the hour mark for a two-footed lunge on Callum Elder.

Jacobs had opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with a 30-yard strike...

Second-half goals from Dan Burn and Nick Powell earned 10-man Wigan a 2-1 win at Scunthorpe.

The Latics' goals sandwiched a 57th-minute red card for midfielder Lee Evans, who pushed his head into the face of the Iron's Funso Ojo after being fouled by the Belgian.

In a battle between the two sides to have conceded the fewest goals in the third tier, defences were perhaps expectedly on top during the opening 45 minutes, though the Iron's Rory McArdle had a header cleared off the line.

The Latics turned...

A goal in either half from Will Grigg gave Wigan Athletic a very comfortable 2-0 Sky Bet League One victory over Walsall.

The Latics were always on top of a rather scrappy encounter at the DW Stadium, and deserved the three points that cements their second spot in the table.

Grigg opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with a deadly finish after Nick Powell and Walsall goalkeeper Mark Gillespie had collided while going for Callum Elder's cross.

And Powell was also involved in the second goal that...
