The Red and Black Bloc fans displayed an anti-gay banner during the Sydney derby in February.

Western Sydney Wanderers supporter group the Red and Black Bloc continues to defy requests to remove images from their social media accounts of the anti-gay banner unfurled during February's Sydney derby.

Police have charged Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Mitch Nichols for the possession of an illicit substance, believed to be cocaine, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 28-year-old, whose contract expires with the Wanderers at the end of this month, was allegedly stopped by police during a random drug sweep at Sydney's Casablanca nightclub on Saturday.

Western Sydney coach Tony Popovic has axed eight players in his annual purge but will do everything in his power to ensure on-loan stars Nico Martinez and Terry Antonis return next season.

Adelaide, Brisbane, WSW Asian failure needs to be the exception, not the rule

Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borrello combined for one last stand as Brisbane Roar fell to a 3-2 defeat against Ulsan Hyundai.

It all started so well. In February, Brisbane Roar travelled north to Shanghai cast in the role of sacrificial lamb but ended up ruining the Chinese coronation of King Carlos Tevez.

The Serie A player of the year in 2015 had won league championships in Italy, England, Brazil and Argentina and was Shanghai Shenhua's new star, reportedly the highest paid player in the world. With no away leg for the Chinese Super League team, a place in the group stage was surely theirs. Yet Brisbane won 2-0 to silence...

Jaushua Sotirio's goal in the 89th minute secured a late 3-2 win for Western Sydney over Shanghai SIPG.

Western Sydney salvaged some pride from their dead-and-buried AFC Champions League campaign, defeating big-spending Shanghai SIPG 3-2 in their final group game at Campbelltown.

Jaushua Sotirio scored the 89th-minute winner to break a 2-2 deadlock that lasted more than an hour on Wednesday night and give the Wanderers their second win of the tournament.

In a frantic start, the hosts found themselves down 1-0 after just 21 seconds, before racing back to a 2-1 lead five minutes later.

It was a remarkable...
