What does the future hold for Slaven Bilic, Craig Shakespeare, Marco Silva?

The FC crew recall the defining moments that stuck out for them during the 2016-17 Premier League season.

The offseason can be dangerous territory for managers. Those who failed to hit their targets may find themselves with difficult questions to answer when meeting with club owners for a post-mortem, while others may be in demand from other clubs looking for a different approach from last season. There may be hirings and firings, changes of scenery or renewed commitment.

With that in mind, ESPN FC pinpoints five Premier League managers whose futures are by no means certain.

West Ham's first season in Stratford marked by mediocrity and frustration

Janusz Michallik and Alexis Nunes take a long look at how the Premier League top 6 shaped out this season.

The 2016-17 season was always going to be difficult for West Ham. The move from Upton Park to Stratford was expected to be painful and so it proved. A poor summer in the transfer market made things more difficult, however, and the club struggled to rise over mediocrity for most of the campaign.

Surviving without any real relegation threat might prove to be the season's real success.

West Ham cap off a disappointing season with a 2-1 win at Burnley and finish 11th in the Premier League.
West Ham cap off a disappointing season with a 2-1 win at Burnley and finish 11th in the Premier League

West Ham finished the season in 11th place following a creditable final day 2-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Goals from Sofiane Feghouli and Andre Ayew were enough to claim all three points on a ground where the home side have been difficult opponents all season. The Hammers played well and kept the home side's strikers quiet.

The win was a welcome farewell to fans who have followed their club with great passion all season and deserved something to sing about at the end of a difficult campaign....

Underuse of Steven Defour a rare blot on Sean Dyche's strong Burnley season

Sean Dyche approaches Burnley's loss jovially, given their Prem survival, while lamenting strange calls by the ref.

Burnley bring their most successful Premier League season to a close on Sunday when they welcome West Ham United to Turf Moor. Everyone at the club can reflect on a job well done.

Despite winning only once away from home all season -- the recent 2-0 success at Selhurst Park -- the Clarets were rarely in danger of going down.

The only time they spent in the relegation zone was after the first weekend of the campaign, when they lost 1-0 at home to Swansea City. It is testament to the fine work of Sean...

West Ham need to be bolder in playing younger players next season

Slaven Bilic is dejected by West Ham's sluggish showing against Liverpool, saying they never looked like challenging.

It has long been the case that when West Ham turn a corner, they usually find another roadblock.

Such was the case Sunday, when the Hammers came up against Liverpool in what many expected to be a difficult chase for Champions League points for the Merseyside club. The Hammers might have moved to a big stadium set amongst glorious parklands and canals, but some backgrounds never change.

It was hoped that when the club left their old home in Green Street, they would leave behind their infuriating...
