James McClean and West Brom's energy too much for Arsenal

The intense pressure on Arsene Wenger mounts after Arsenal were swept aside by West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Tony Pulis has only praise for his side securing 40 points so quickly this season, as well as their key win over Arsenal.

After poor performances against Crystal Palace and Everton, West Brom moved forward from the 40-point mark with an outstanding display against Arsenal at The Hawthorns. Despite having only 23 percent possession, nobody could argue that Tony Pulis' team were much the better side, looking dangerous every time they counter-attacked and even more so from set pieces. West Brom were simply too powerful for an Arsenal side that didn't look up for the battle.

WEST BROMWICH, England -- Ultimately, it was Arsene Wenger himself who provided the most comprehensive summary of Arsenal's damaging 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

"It was a typical Premier League game now, that you see a lot, where one team has a lot of the ball and the other defends deep well, waits for counterattacks and set pieces," Wenger explained. "West Brom did that very well. We had 77 percent of possession but didn't create enough chances."

This felt hugely predictable....

WEST BROMWICH, England -- Three thoughts from Arsenal's stunning 3-1 defeat at West Brom.

1. Arsenal fall to another defeat

Arsenal crashed to their fourth defeat in five Premier League matches on a drizzly afternoon at the Hawthorns. They were undone by two set-piece goals, both headers by West Brom right-back Craig Dawson, which sandwiched a scrappy effort by substitute Hal Robson-Kanu.

It was a flat, underwhelming performance by Arsene Wenger's side, with Mesut Ozil out injured and Alexis...

Can Man City rebound vs. Liverpool? Wenger under pressure at West Brom

The Exploding Heads break down who would win in a showdown between the cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
The ESPN FC crew present their Premier League relegation predictions, but are there any surprises from the group?

Manchester City and Arsenal are both coming off the back of embarrassing European exits, but City's will hurt more as they were ahead against Monaco. Pep Guardiola has to rouse the troops against Liverpool, who tend to disappoint against smaller clubs but should be perfectly comfortable against the Catalan and his style of play.

Arsene Wenger is under major pressure, so has to get the fans back on his side with a big win over West Brom, while Manchester United's Europa League exploits might see...

Evans, West Brom pushed around by Lukaku and Everton

Everton moved to within two points of the top six with an easy win over West Brom at Goodison Park.

West Brom put in one of their most disappointing performances of the season as they surrendered meekly to a 3-0 defeat against Everton, the team one place above Tony Pulis' side in the table. West Brom rarely threatened Everton, who were given almost free reign to attack with Hal Robson-Kanu left horribly isolated up front in a rare start for the Welshman. It is a worrying sign that since hitting 40 points, Pulis' team have put in two of their worst performances in the losses to Crystal Palace and...

Rondon, Chadli go missing for West Brom in Crystal Palace defeat

Tony Pulis holds nothing against his player's loss to Crystal Palace, and chalks it up to 'just one of those games.'

West Brom came crashing back down to earth with a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace, just a week after victory over Bournemouth at The Hawthorns had taken them to 40 points. Tony Pulis has overseen a change in style this campaign, but this was a return to the poor performances of last season, which was undoubtedly contributed to by Sam Allardyce's tactics. He was happy to concede possession and hit West Brom on the counter-attack, something which Pulis' side simply aren't used to.
