TSV 1860 Munich out to enjoy revival of city rivalry in Bayern Munich clash

MUNICH -- Five decades ago, there was only one club worth talking about in Munich: TSV 1860. They were the best team in the city and a founding member of the Bundesliga thanks to their success in the 1963 Oberliga Sud that saw the country's football authorities -- reluctant to have two clubs from the same city -- leave Bayern out.

As Bayern were still making do with changing in wooden huts on Sabenerstrasse, "The Lions" starred in a European Cup Winners' Cup final at Wembley in 1965 (though they...

The club announced on Friday that fans will have to pay €199 for a full-price adult standing terrace...

Bayern Munich cancel Allianz Arena contract with 1860 Munich

1860 Munich will play the 2017-18 season in the fourth tier of German football.

Bayern Munich have cancelled the contract with former Bundesliga champions TSV 1860 Munich at their Allianz Arena stadium.

The cancellation follows talks between 1860's managing director Markus Fauser, and Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern's finance director and vice chairperson.

"The agreement precludes 1860 from returning to the Allianz Arena at a later date," Bayern announced in a statement.

Since 2004-05 both Munich clubs have staged their home games at the Allianz Arena. 1860, the first Munich...
