Udinese will be glad to see the back of Turin this season after losing in the Piedmont city for the second time.

Their former forward Fabio Quagliarella did the damage as Torino beat the high-flyers 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to inflict only the second defeat on Andrea Stramaccioni's side this season, the other a 2-0 loss to city rivals Juventus.

Torino had the better of the chances throughout the contest in Turin and were unlucky not to have taken a first-half lead after Emiliano Moretti's effort hit the crossbar.

The outcome is Toro's first win in the pool after...

Torino coach Giampiero Ventura nostalgic of Europa League return

Ventura is delighted with the Torino's progress in recent seasons and has hinted at a future Champions League berth.

Torino are preparing for their first major European home game in over 20 years when they host Copenhagen in the Europa League on Thursday night with their coach Giampiero Ventura keen to underline how far they have come.

Ventura joined the Granata in the summer of 2011, taking over a club in Serie B despite scepticism about his appointment, to replace Franco Lerda after two disappointing years in the Italian second tier.

Just three years on, he has won them over and is bidding to do even better.
