Angel Reyna's goal helped the Liga MX leaders clench a postseason berth.
Toluca are sitting pretty, as with two games remaining they are guaranteed at worst second place.

Only two matchdays remain in the 2018 Clausura regular season.

The race continues for a position in the top eight and a playoff spot, and while a few teams have already been eliminated or clinched a spot in the next round, several more still have plenty to play for.

Power Rankings: Toluca leapfrogs Tigres after beating Apertura champs

Maxi Perg celebrates after Toluca's 1-0 win over Tigres.
With a 1-0 win over previous leaders Tigres, Toluca is now on top of our Power Rankings.

MEXICO CITY -- Toluca has now gone 11 matches in all competitions without a loss. The last time the Diablos Rojos dropped a three-pointer was Valentine's Day, against Puebla.

Since then, they've stormed into the Copa MX final, and into first place of Liga MX, with 30 points in 14 games this season. The 1-0 win over Tigres, the defending champions (and prior Power Ranking kings) is also indicative of their chances to crown themselves in the playoffs.

Expectations are unsurprisingly high for the Liga MX teams involved in this year's CONCACAF Champions League tournament. Since 2006, no club outside of Mexico's first division has won top honors in the CONCACAF competition. Whether it be in the "Champions Cup" or "Champions League" era, a Liga MX team always seems to finish with the title in hand.

This year, the responsibility of maintaining that streak from 2006 lies in the hands (and feet) of four Liga MX squads: Club America, Chivas, Tijuana...

America stays top of Liga MX Power Rankings, Tigres drops to No. 4

Club America thrashed Lobos BUAP in Week 5 to stay ahead of the pack.

MEXICO CITY -- Monterrey and America got impressive 5-1 wins, which helped them consolidate their places at the top of the table. Frenchman Jeremy Menez scored his first Liga MX goal, while Erick Gutierrez and Keisuke Honda scored golazos but Pachuca still couldn't find the win. Pumas, led by an inspired Matias Alustiza, defeated Andre-Pierre Gignac's Tigres 2-0.

Here are the Power Rankings for Week 5:
