Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque agrees to one more A-League season

Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque has confirmed that he will play on for one more A-League season.

Brosque was set to draw the curtain on his 17-year career to further underline a changing of the Sky Blues guard, led by coach Graham Arnold's exit and Steve Corica's promotion in his place.

Yet, as it turns out, the club will still have its skipper -- even if he does start on the bench a little more than previous years.

"I'm Sydney FC through and through," Brosque said at Sydney's end-of-season awards...

Steve Corica to continue Graham Arnold's Sydney FC culture - Brandon O'Neill

Can Australia make an impact at Russia 2018 under new coach Bert van Marwijk? Here's a look at how the Socceroos shape up.
The ESPN panel in London are skeptical of Australia ahead of the World Cup with Bert van Marwijk's defensive mindset and an aging squad.

When Steve Corica sat his Sydney FC players down on Wednesday morning and announced he was their new head coach, Brandon O'Neill knew exactly what to expect.

The midfielder had already played three years under Corica in the club legend's incarnation as assistant coach -- some of his teammates far longer.

He knew, for instance, that the quietly spoken 45-year-old wouldn't be emulating the booming guttural training-park directives of his predecessor Graham Arnold.

"Obviously their personalities are...

Sydney FC appoint Steve Corica as Graham Arnold's successor

Steve Corica is Sydney FC's new head coach, stepping up after serving a seven-year apprenticeship as assistant.

The 45-year-old former Socceroos midfielder has been preferred over a number of foreign candidates as the man to replace Graham Arnold on a two-year deal.

Corica was previously an assistant at Sydney FC under four head coaches -- Vitezslav Lavicka, Ian Crook, Frank Farina and then Arnold.

"I'm very honoured and proud to be the head coach of Sydney FC," Corica said.

"I'm very passionate...

Sydney FC sign Trent Buhagiar from Central Coast Mariners

Sydney FC have moved forward with their A-League rebuild, confirming Trent Buhagiar as the club's first new signing of the post-Graham Arnold era.

The pacy former Central Coast attacker, long mooted as a future Sky Blue, has agreed to a two-year deal, days after leaving the Mariners.

He joins young midfielder Chris Zuvela in confirming his future at the club after the Sydney academy product had signed on for a second senior professional season.

Buhagiar started only four games last season over 19...

Central Coast Mariners set to re-sign cult favourite Matt Simon

Matt Simon will be back in yellow and navy next A-League season after committing to a third stint with Central Coast.

The combative impact striker is off contract at Sydney FC and understood to have agreed a deal to return to his roots under new coach Mike Mulvey.

Simon was used mostly off the bench over his three seasons at the Sky Blues under Graham Arnold, his former Mariners coach who handed him a career lifeline in 2015 after he was let go by the struggling Gosford outfit following nine years...
